Last minute gift for the Mega Man, NAH!!!!!!! But a suggestion for you music lovers with kids.

This pair of wireless Pioneer headphones ROCK!!!!!

I bought them about a year ago before my son was born. I didn't want to blast music or watch a movie while the little guy is sleeping.

About $279 from Amazon.com, these are the best thing since stacking donkeys. Hey, you can stack donkeys and listen to music at the same time. Yeah, they are expensive, but the people that read this blog can afford it.

DO IT!!!!!

Omg a post? No way!

Okay all, for any readers out there, I am going to post more often, some personal and some poker stuff.

I took to the family to Portland to visit my wife's sister and family for the holiday. It was a nice lazy holiday like I prefer. My son, wife and myself were all sick, some type of bug I guess. We slept alot and vegged out mostly, but overall a good time. My sister-in-law has a new 3500 sq ft home and it is mucho grande.

On a poker note, I did get to meet up with Worm (GAME OVER 73) and his wife Pam, and Cam (whothedonk) at the Portland Pokers Club. Except for running my KK into AA in the $100 NLHE tourney it was a great time. If you are ever in the area, look it up, the players were friendly and the dealers were excellent.

Thanks to Worm and his wife, Pam for inviting me up.

From Bloomberg.com:

"Laws that are either widely disobeyed or unworkable are bad laws. A year after its passing, the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act is both disobeyed and unworkable.
The sooner it's scrapped, the better. "

DAVEBREAL jokes:

What is the difference between tony montana, mick the hoon and davebreal?

A: tony and mick do not claim to be winning poker players.

How do you get Dave off your porch?

A: Pay him for the pizza.

Yes, it's in Oklahoma, but maybe, just maybe, PL08 is finally catching on. Then again, they have some crazy games there. WTF is Jack and Jill?

Here is a story from my days at retail sales and then I will tie it into poker.

One day while at a morning meeting at HH Gregg (I sold electronics - 100% commission), we were having a tent sale. This sale was to get rid of all the crap, scratch and dent, open items, etc... On this specific day, our sales manager and one of my best friends in the world, Tommy, is going to tell us how to deal with certain questions about products like, does it have a remote, are you gonna fix the broken wheel, does it have an owner's manual? etc...

One salesman was asked to stand up and be the customer, Tommy would be the salesman. Each question that was asked about a "tent sale" item, Tommy answered with the same 2 words, "AS IS." After 4 or 5 questions where Tommy answered that phrase, each time in a slightly different tone, his answer was not only funny, but worked. The customer was going to realize that the only thing that matters about this item was that it is going to be sold, "AS-IS." Or otherwise, that is all that's important at this juncture.

Now let's tie this into poker in a little less detail. Yesterday I was talking to an internet poker buddy who is alot more successful that I am. I asked him a few questions about when to call big raises in PL and NL08. Should I call with A3xx, or A4xx, or A2xx, or AAxx, what should I be calling with against some of the tougher players? Each time the answer was the same one word, "POSITION." Wow, that word has been plastered into my mind all day today while playing and I just murdered the tables again, it's been a good month, but today seemed a little different as it seemed more effortless. And the reason is that today when I was faced with a tough decision whether to call, bet, or raise, the only thing that popped into my mind was that one word, "POSITION."

My god, it's amazing how you can play a game for so long and have good success, yet not be near as successful as you could be. Look at Phil, it doesn't get any better at Hold'em than him. You can be damn sure position is embedded in is mind, as a habit these days.

I am heading into the WSOP PL08 tourneys next week with my best month ever, playing well, getting lucky and learning more every day.

But my biggest thanks goes out to my friend, Predator, who's one word answer yesterday has me rethinking every angle and strategy. Sometimes it takes the easiest phrases to change things in your life. Never stop asking questions, for you reap more than you'll ever know.

See you on the 22nd in Vegas.

PL08 at Binions during WSOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wednesday, May 02, 2007

It's been a while since I posted as I have been super busy with trying to play "housewife, father, and poker player," all at the same time. I lost in March and April, albeit a small amount. I made a monster run to come close to even in April and have started May off on the winning side and I feel great again, with tons of confidence.

I think the reason for success comes in many variables. The synergy between more sleep, better focus and damn better cards helps quite a bit. I have also dropped limits a bit and find many more fish down in the sewer. I also stay away from the studs at all costs. I have been told I am a tight-weak player. I am working to make that tight-strong.

I have also starting playing more SNG tourneys also. My last 6 tourneys, all 30+3, 9 players, are 3 wins, 2 seconds and 1 out of money. I am damn proud of this as I am trying to get ready for the WSOP PLO8 event at the end of June. My normal tourney result is the bubble.

I wish all well with Mother's day coming up next week. Please appreciate your mothers, they are the salt of the earth. I know my mother is always with me in spirit.

I have been break even for the last 2 months after doing very well the previous months. I will get back on target very soon. I have been winning at Full Tilt and losing at PokerStars. Once I start winning at Stars, it will be smooth sailing.

For now, I can only think of one math formula to describe my break even play:

Poker + lack of sleep + = no money.

Then again, this time is priceless and I have other means of income, so I will never complain.

Today is another sad day for PL08 players, as the exit of the Tribeca network continues to kill fish.

I have been playing at Doyle's room for the last 3 months and without a doubt, they have the worst PL08 players at all levels, 1/2, 2/4 and even 5/10. I am amazed at a full ring game at 5/10 with average vp's of 50+, many players in the 70-80 range. Every hand is an adventure and if you like to gamble, then this was the site to play at.

Supposedly Doyle's room is finding another network, but once again we have lost PL08 players that somehow never find their way onto PokerStars or Full Tilt. Before Betholdem left the prima network, the 1/2 and 2/4 games were just pathetic, now they are non-existant.

On a positive note, I woke up this morning and decided to play a satellite qualifier to the FTOPS Event #9. It's 300+22 pot limit HA game, otherwise know as Holdem and Omaha Hi. I had to crush 7 other players, but I got it done relatively easy, and you will see me on Saturday in Event #9. Best $26 so far, considering I almost never play tourneys. And I never play Holdem or Omaha Hi.

FINALLY PLO8!!!!!!!!!

Harrah's Entertainment Announces 2007 Schedule For World Series Of Poker® Presented by Milwaukee's Best Light June 1 to July 17 Event Offers New Variety Of Games, Buy-Ins
January 9, 2007

LAS VEGAS – January 9, 2007 – Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:HET) said today the 2007 World Series of Poker Presented by Milwaukee's Best Light will offer the most diverse event schedule in the tournament's illustrious history.

The 38th edition of the world's most prestigious poker tournament, set for June 1 through July 17, 2007, at the Rio® All-Suite Hotel & Casino – and televised exclusively by ESPN – features 55 bracelet events with buy-ins up to $50,000. Among the additions to the schedule are $2,500 HORSE event and $5,000 Mixed Hold'Em Events and a $5,000 Heads-up No-Limit Hold'Em World Championship.

"The 2007 schedule offers something for everyone," said Jeffrey Pollack, commissioner of the World Series of Poker. "As part of our commitment to innovate for the benefit of all players, we've added nine bracelet events and created more opportunities for both amateurs and professionals to win poker's most coveted prize."

The 55-event 2007 WSOP schedule compares with 46 events in 2006, when more than 42,000 entrants from 56 countries generated a total prize pool exceeding $171 million – the largest purse in competitive sports. The 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event – the $10,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold'Em World Championship – attracted a field of 8,773 players. More than 870 players won money in the 2006 WSOP Main Event, including reigning world champion Jamie Gold, who captured the top prize of $12 million.

In addition to an expanded schedule, the 2007 World Series of Poker will offer players more space, with up to 300 tables available for tournament and live-game play. The additional tables will enable tournament officials to reduce the start days for the WSOP Main Event to three. As in 2006, World Series of Poker officials will allow players entering the WSOP Main Event to choose their start dates as long as seats are available on the selected dates.

For the third straight year, the Rio Hotel & Casino will host the annual Gaming Life Expo July 5-8. A free consumer show featuring exhibitors from around the globe, the 2007 World Series of Poker Gaming Life Expo will showcase a broad array of gaming and poker products, memorabilia, books and clothing. In 2006, more than 100,000 people visited the Expo.
